  Color Enhancement

Color enhancement eye-wear for sport:

New sports vision enhancements:

In the United Kingdom a study sponsored by CIBA Vision and conducted by the Sports Vision Association demonstrated that vision enhancing eye-wear could improve an athlete's performance by up to twenty five percent. This result indicates great possibilities in the future in the field of sport vision. Today its common knowledge that in some sports, such as tennis, the players regularly wear color-enhancing glasses to allow them to better follow the balls motion and thus have faster reaction times to each play as it unfolds.

Today its common knowledge that in some sports, such as tennis, the players regularly wear color-enhancing glasses to allow them to better follow the balls motion and thus have faster reaction times to each play as it unfolds. Some colored or tinted sports sunglasses can improve visibility of specifically chosen colors- such as yellow for yellow tennis balls or orange for basketball players. Today special glass lenses are also being designed to suit the needs of professional golf players or trap-shooters. This is done by filtering contrasting colors out of the lenses, allowing the chosen color to “pop out”. There are even tinted lenses for contact sports where glasses would prove a nuisance, trapping sweat and clouding vision even further. They are completely different from colored lenses that are designed only for aesthetic values and are meant to change the appearance of the person's eyes and not their vision. In ski the use of dual purpose eye-gear designed both for protection and color enhancement is a widespread phenomenon by now, though these aren't intended not to enhance yellow, but rather rose and amber tints. Rose tinted ski goggles augment the soft shades of grey and white that marks the snowed faces of the mountain slopes. Since visibility is already limited in such a monochrome environment, this helps the skier make the distinction between smooth areas on the ground and bumps or ridge that may appear suddenly. This provides more visual information and reduces the risk of catching on an unexpected crest of ground and getting hurt.
