Steroids
Ophthalmologists normally prescribe steroids in chronic and acute cases of conjunctivitis. Steroids should be used only under the direct supervision of an ophthalmologist. Unnecessary use of steroids can cause serious side effects like infections leading to corneal scaring, cataract formation and glaucoma.
