  Home Treatment for Allergies

Using chilled topical medications can relieve itching and redness. Use of cold compresses or cloth soaked in cold water can reduce the discomfort. If the eyelids have developed crusts, use warm compresses to soften them. Cooled saline water can be used to clean the eyes from contact allergy.

Lubricating eye drops, also called artificial tears, can be used to flush out the allergens. Avoid contact lenses while having eye allergies.

Never rub the eyes while having eye allergies. It will only worsen the allergic reaction.
