Patching
Patching, also known as vision therapy, forces the brain to make use of amblyopic eye. For this an opaque patch is worn on the strong eye until the lazy eye matches with the strong eye in its functionality.
Some children might not agree to wear patches as they might think it odd. For such children, there are several decorated and fun patches available. Some patches can even be decorated by the children.
Although the treatment looks simple, long use of eye patch can hurt the strong eye. So, periodic visit to the ophthalmologist is necessary to ascertain the condition of the strong eye. The adhesive tapes used with patches might create rashes and irritation. There are several products available to minimize the irritation. Moisturizers and ointments can be applied on rashes.
